Simple Things in Life that Make Me Happy

Sep. 27th, 2010 | 11:31 pm

I managed to come home early today.

Cos I headed for home right after my client meeting which ended @ 6pm.

That made me happy. :)

Then I cooked myself some pasta for dinner and to tabao for lunch tomorrow (cos I cooked too much :P).

That made me happy too. :)

Worked a bit from home.

That didn't make me happy but I was ok with it cos at least, I got to do the abovementioned activities.

Surfing aimlessly now.

That's making me happy. :)

Waiting for Mr Lee to get home from work so that we can chat about random stuff.

That's what makes me happiest - chatting about random stuff. :)

He always tells me that he looks forward to coming home to seeing me, and just lie in bed and chat with me. :)

That sentence made me really, really happy. :)

I learn to appreciate these simple things in life that make me happy, especially after a very grey day.

A happy thought goes a really long way. :)

Our Birthdays! :)

Sep. 18th, 2010 | 07:48 pm

It's great that our birthdays are just 10 days apart. Cos we tend to feast non-stop during this period. :P

This year's no diff and I just have to blog about the yummilicious food that we've had.

Edwin's 32nd Birthday

1. A Haagen Daz Cookies n Cream birthday cake (well, it's actually an ice-cream mooncake :P) - It's really yummy! A tad tooooo sweet though. Even for my sweet TEETH! :p

2. A ginormous card for Mr Lee which I love :P I tend to get him things I like *sheepish*

3. His Prada man-bag which is my birthday prezzie for him (ok, I'm poor, I only contributed to part of it *kekeke*)

4. Transformers! Yes, he loves his toys. I wonder if we're gonna need a bigger place soon to just have a walk-in for his toys -_-"'

1. Let's start dinner with a beer

2. Can't wait for dinner to start @ Nagomi
We didn't know what we would get for dinner cos it's a Jap restaurant where the chef decides what you should eat. We just told the waiter what we don't eat. :P

3. Starters - Can't remember what they are but they were GOOD!

4. Salad that has such great sauce! The tofu was cold and smooth, avocado was creamy and sweet, all other veg were just fresh! Like really fresh!

5. Sweet, juicy, fresh sashimi.. All those tuna belly, etc. And that FAT and sweet scallop which is what I really miss from Japan. And of course, Ed's favourite sea urchin thingamagic which he said is fresher than what he's ever had in Singapore.

6. Huge ass oysters that were oh-so-sweet!

1. Me slurping that yummy oyster! It was sooo BIG! And sweet! And fresh! I really wonder how they do that. Like how they manage to ship it over and still maintain the freshness.

2. Steamed fish with a lightly sweet and fragrant sauce. The meat melted in my mouth!

3. Fried fish which tasted really good and the meat was really soft!

4. Sweet potato fries which were not oily at all! I was amazed!

5. Ended off with a nice, warm chicken porridge which was cooked in a really unique way. The chef made it so easy to eat - I felt at home and yet, it tasted so expensive at the same time!

1. Finally, the usual Tiramisu for Ed. His fave cake and I get him one every year for his birthday. :)

2. This year, I got it from Riciotti and the peaches were from Nagomi. Very refreshing and subtly sweet. Like how all Jap fruits are. :)

3. My fave Yuzu sorbet! Mmmm...

4. Us after a satisfying meal. Will definitely wanna go back to Nagomi again.
Service was awesome.
Food was great.
Forgot to add that the chef took time to tell us what's on each dish, and explain where the fish came from, etc.
It was an amazing experience. :)

My 27th Birthday
Now what did I do this year for my birthday?
The usual friends celebrated with me and I had lotsa fun, etc. :)

1. Dinner with Iky, June and their partners/kids @ Margarita's! Mmmm...
The brownie/birthday cake comes with a sparkler instead of a candle.
We were all so fascinated, we didn't manage to capture a photo before it went off! LOL

2. Birthday prezzie from Wenmei :)

3. Dinner with the usual gang from Sec Sch @ Brewerkz. Didn't manage to get a shot of everyone. Oh well...

4. Tiramisu from Diana (colleague) :))

Missing from this photo:
1. Birthday card from my colleagues
2. Birthday prezzie - A 365 days journal - from my colleagues

1. Birthday dinner with family
Love the messages on the card they gave me
And it's amazing how @ sucha old age, birthday ang pows are still pretty decent :P

2. Birthday prezzies from Ed's mum - Diamond pendant + Dress which I mentioned that I like!

1. Surprise durian birthday cake!
Love Mr Lee for getting me that even though he HATES durians :p

2. Surprise long-stemmed velvet red roses, wrapped the way I like that popped up in office! ;)

3. Adorable Care Bears birthday card! That's vintage alright! *hee*

4. Dinner @ Oosh with wine :)
He's awesome to have white with me even though he prefers red :)

5. My birthday prezzie - He got his friend to get it from Paris and we saved so much money! :)

1. Bread with yummy garlic butter
I LOVE garlic butter! :)
Anyone knows if we're able to get it in a jar in Singapore?

2. Yummilicious salad with crayfish - The sauce for the crayfish was amazing!

3. Foie gras - Yes, I know. Every birthday, I have foie gras overdose.

4. Pumpkin soup with foie gras - Told you I have foie gras overdose during my birthdays! :P

5. My medium-rare steak with more foie gras - I.told.you.sg. :PP

6. Ed's fish :P

7. My yummy choc cake with green tea ice-cream aka birthday cake.
Guess what I wished for? ;)

***

And with that, our birthdays have come and gone, and we're a year older. :)

Wonder what next year's will bring? :)

My Funeral Wake

Jul. 23rd, 2010 | 11:25 pm

A topic that's often deemed as taboo to most people.

But with so many deaths happening around me recently, and me not being in the best of health, I reckoned it's important that people know what kinda funeral wake they want.

I've decided to put it down here on LJ, for the world to see.

Just in case I pass on unexpectedly one day, then someone will at least know how I want to be sent off. :)

Feli's Funeral Wake
# of days for the wake: Two nights (Reckoned we need one night contingency, in case people can't make it - Am assuming of course, that I'm highly popular and everyone wants to say bye :P)

Type of wake: No prayers since I've got no religion at the mo (Ok, this might change should I pick up a religion in future) It'll be nice if a few of my family members and closer friends can just give a short eulogy about me. :)

Music to be played: Mambo music! But of course. :P I think I should put together a playlist of favourite songs so that it can be played at my wake. Will save it in my Music folder on my laptop, with the label "Favourite songs".

Flowers @ the wake: Sunflowers, Cala lilies and Deep velvet red roses

Mood: No crying please!

Clothes for me: Definitely a dress! Not sure which one yet. Will update.

Jewellery on me: Diamond earrings, diamond pendant on a white gold chain, diamond ring and diamond tennis bracelet :P

Hairstyle: Trim my bangs to the perfect length, just below my brows, above my eyes, Dark colored hair

Makeup: I've to look natural and not heavily made up please!

Funeral: No walking/kneeling, etc. Just cremate me and scatter me in a list of places that I want.

List of places to scatter my ashes:
1. My house/room
2. The beach and sea @ Koh Yao Noi, Thailand (where Paradise Resort is)
3. Where my grandad's urn is
4. Chung Cheng High Main (My sec sch)
5. NUS Arts Faculty
6. Hakone, Japan
The list might change but that's all I can think of at the moment. :)

That's about all I have.

Welcome any comments for stuff that I might have missed out. :)

If one day I do pass on, please let my family members know about this since none of them reads my blog. Thanks guys! :)

Nightmare

Jul. 20th, 2010 | 05:37 pm

Yesterday, I went for my follow-up check post surgery and my doc said I'm all clear. *phew*

But I'll have to go back weekly for her to clean my wound. :( A very unpleasant process if I may say. :(

Anyway, despite the all clear verdict, I had the scariest of dreams last night.

I dreamt that my doc showed me a photo of my cells. And that the cells have teeth!

That these cells have mutated beyond anyone's comprehension and they are eating me up from inside.

How scary is that?

I can still remember the fear and horror and hopelessness I felt in the dream.

Hopefully, it remains a dream. I mean, whoever heard of cells having teeth right! *sheesh*

Driving lessons

May. 31st, 2010 | 11:06 am

Yesterday marked my 2nd driving lesson. :P

Went on the road for the first time and I stalled. *sighs*

Well, it IS my 2nd lesson afterall!

Practised in the carpark:

1. Changing gear
2. Turning left and right
3. U-turn

I think I need better control of my accelerator. :P Well, practice makes perfect. Hopefully my 3rd lesson will be better! :P

Anyway, my first lesson was a week ago and I was coughing my lungs out.

Almost hit a curb cos I was coughing too hard. :P

Advanced theory this Thursday and I haven't studied! I better start man!

Tequila pop

May. 20th, 2010 | 05:12 pm

Do you guys remember this drink?

Gosh. I almost forgot about it.

Was reading a few of my earlier entries (8 years ago can!), and read that I drank it.

Can't remember what the heck it is and asked Mr Lee who said -

Tequila pop = Stupid drink which you knock against the table before you drink.

I asked - Why must knock?

Mr Lee said - To disturb the drink so that you can get high faster.

Ok, I find the "To disturb the drink" part very funny. :P

Gosh! What were the other drinks that you used to drink when you were young, but no longer drink?

Back in Singapore...

Apr. 5th, 2010 | 12:40 pm

... and missing Sydney's weather already.

It was a very relaxing trip.

Waking up at 10/11am everyday.

Having wine/beer at bedtime everyday.

Shopping without a care everyday - I swear I didn't buy much. Quality over quantity!

Dining at yummilicious places everyday - The views @ meals were amazing.

Strolling by the waters everyday - The weather is perfect for long walks.

And now I'm back in Singapore, starting @ my new work place tomorrow.

Somehow, Australia's pace of life have become a part of me. That's always the case when I'm back from Australia.

Am typing in a super slooooow pace now... Whilst in bed. :p

Have I resigned?

Mar. 2nd, 2010 | 01:36 pm

I really wonder.

I'm just being dumped lotsa work.

I've basically pushed back as much as I can, but the work just keeps coming.

Damn it la.

And I've been having a fever since yesterday. :(

But I've gotta event tonight so I can't head home now. :(

I'm feeling downright miserable.

Every second more I stay in this company just reaffirms that the decision I made was right.

ARGH.
